While everyone’s therapy journey is different, there are some elements that remain similar. For telehealth therapy, you will want to select a safe space where you will have uninterrupted privacy and a reliable device with a strong Internet signal. You’ll be sent a telehealth invitation link to your email the morning of your appointment. You’ll simply click on the link at your appointment time, and I’ll join you.
The first session, and perhaps first few sessions, will be me getting to know you, your goals, and needs, and you getting to know me as your therapist. The most important part of therapy is a strong therapeutic alliance between you and your therapist. This is the single greatest predictor of therapy being successful. If we determine that I’m not the best fit for you, I’ll help you find another provider. If you feel comfortable moving forward, therapy will be tailored to best fit your learning style, and will move at a pace that is comfortable for you. Therapy will likely involve homework. While some people like more formal assignments, such as worksheets, others might prefer just to practice some of the skills and ideas discussed between sessions. Some might need to just ponder what was discussed for a while, to explore how the new ideas and information might fit into their lives. I pull from a variety of therapeutic theories and approaches to best meet your needs and foster healthy personal growth.
Sessions are 50 minutes.
